I WILL SURVIVE

At first I was afraid I was petrified
Kept thinkin' I could never live without you by my side;
But then I spent so many nights
Thinkin' how you did me wrong
And I grew strong
And so you're back from outer space
I just walked in to find you here with that sad look upon your face
I should have changed that stupid lock
I should have made you leave your key
If I'd've known for just one second you'd back to bother me
Go on now, go walk out the door
Just turn around now
('cause) you're not welcome anymore
Weren't you the one who tried to hurt me with goodbye
Did I crumble
Did you think I'd lay down and die?
Oh no, not.I. I will survive
Oh as long as I know how to love I know I'll stay alive;
I've got all my life to live,
I've got all my love to give and I'll survive,
I will survive. Hey hey.
It took all the strength I had not to fall apart
Kept trying' hard to mend the pieces of my broken heart,
And I spent oh so many nights
Just feeling sorry for myself. I used to cry
But now I hold my head up high
And you see me somebody new
I'm not that chained up little person still in love with you,
And so you feel like droppin' in
And just expect me to be free,
Now I'm savin' all my lovin' for someone who's lovin' me
Go on now.. etc.

I have dreamed
that someone is coming
I have dreamed of a crimson star
and every sign--my fluttering eyelids
my pairing shoes--
all the signs are telling of something
and I'll be struck blind
if I am lying
I have dreamed of that crimson star
even in my waking

someone is coming
someone is coming

Someone different
someone better
someone who isn't like anyone, isn't like Father
like Jonah
like John
like Mother,
but is just like the one that should be
and he is even taller than the trees at the masons
and his face
is even brighter than the Coming Imam's
and he is not afraid of Seyyed Javad's brother
who's gone
and become a cop
and he is not even afraid of Seyyed Javad himself
who owns all the rooms in our house.

And his name is
(just as Mother calls in the beginning and the end of her prayer)
the Judge-of-all-Judges
the Way-of-all-Ways
and can read all the hard words in the third grade book
with eyes closed
and can subtract a thousand
from twenty million
without a mistake
and can buy at Seyyed Javad's grocery store
whatever he wants, on credit
and can make the word ALLAH
which used to shine
green as the dawn
to be lit again across the skies of the Meftahiyan Mosque

Ah-
what a good thing light is
and how much I wish that
John had a cart
and a Coleman lantern
and how much I wish I'd sit on John's cart
among watermelons
and drive around Mohammadiyeh Square

Ah-
how good it is to drive around the square
how good it is to sleep on the rooftop
how good it is to go to the public park
how good it is to taste Pepsi
how good it is to go to Fardin's cinema
and how much I like all the good things
and how much I want to pull Seyyed Javad's daughter's long hair.

Why am I so little
that I get lost in the street
why father who isn't so little
and doesn't get lost in the street
why doesn't he do something
so that the one I have dreamed is coming
comes sooner
and the people of the slaughterhouse district
who have blood in the soil of their gardens
in the water of their pools
on the soles of their shoes
why don't they do something

how the winter is lazy

I have swept the stairs to the rooftop
I have washed the window panes
why should father dream
only in his dream

Someone is coming
someone is coming
someone who is at heart with us, in soul with us
in voice with us
Someone whose coming cannot be prevented
who cannot be handcuffed
and thrown in prison...
someone who has grown under John's old trees
and day after day
is growing big, is growing bigger

Someone's coming
someone from the sound of the rain, from the whispers of petunias--

Someone comes from the sky of a firework night
and spreads the tablecloth
and shares out the bread
shares out the Pepsi
shares out the public park
shares out the cough syrup
shares out the registration day
shares out the hospital waiting-number
shares out the rubber boots
shares out Fardin's cinema
shares out Seyyed Javad's daughter's long hair
and shares out whatever is left
and gives us out portion--
I have dreamed.

Following the gig at Rosenthal's, Kerry attended a dinner for new supporters at the home of Sheila and Hassan Namazee on the glitzy East Side. Hassan is one of Kerry's New York finance chairs. About 40 people attended, according to the campaign.

War messages on the Oscar
However politics was not entirely written out of the script.

Crystal got huge laughs and applause for a dig at President Bush - "I come and go as I please, so it's kind of like the Texas National Guard."

He also made a number of suggestions of various political figures' favourite films - Hilary Clinton loved Kill Bill, Donald Rumsfeld Confessions Of A Dangerous Mind, while Saddam Hussein "loved Holes."

Sean Penn made a passing reference to the Iraq situation as he picked up best actor, beginning his speech "If there's one thing that actors know - other than that there are no WMDs..."

But only Errol Morris, picking up best documentary feature for Vietnam study The Fog of War, used the platform to hit the subject head on.

"I fear we're going down a rabbit hole once again," he said.

"If people can stop and think and reflect on some of this issues in this movie, perhaps I've done some damn good here."

Crystal's response? "I can't wait for his tax audit."

This is From a while ago But Srtill very intersting.
Comité International pour la Transition à la Démocratie en Iran
International Committee for Transition to Democracy in Iran

Comitato Internazionale per Transizione a la Democrazia nell’Iran / Comité Internacionalpor Transición Democratica en Irán

Internationales Komitee für den Übergang zur Demokratie im Iran

23 June 2003

Press Communique of Comité International pour la Transition à la Démocratie en Iran (CITDI)

on June 2003 Student Protest in Iran

In recent days, university students in Tehran and other major cities of Iran have protested against the government's plan to privatize Iranian universities. The protests soon received support from Iranians and grew into anti-clericatic demonstrations and clashes between students and pro-hardliner thugs around campuses and student dormitories. Once again, Iranians voiced their demand for freedom and referendum.

Comité International pour la Transition à la Démocratie en Iran acknowledges the legitimate grievances of students and all Iranians. It recognizes and supports the right of Iranian people to decide for their destiny. This right can only be achieved under democratic conditions and guaranteed freedom of expression of all Iranians regardless of their beliefs. The CITDI maintains that Iranians should be given the opportunity to determine their own future without foreign threat or domestic repression. The CITDI therefore calls upon world public opinion to attend to the Iranian situation and support the peaceful struggle of the Iranian people for democracy, independence, freedom of political prisoners -- regardless of their beliefs -- and a referendum to decide their own future.
